Format Conventions for Tire Society Papers
REFERENCE: U. R. D. Author, E. S. Onetoo, "Format Conventions for Tire Society Papers," submitted for presentation at the 2003 Tire Society meeting, and for consideration for publication in the journal Tire Science and Technology.
ABSTRACT: This document provides an example of the formatting conventions which should be applied when preparing papers for submission to the Tire Society. The abstract length should not exceed 300 words.
KEY WORDS: Give several key words here that best classify the content of your paper.
Generally, manuscripts should follow the format and style conventions of the Society's journal, Tire Science and Technology, as described at the following internet link: (click here). These conventions are embodied in the present document, which is intended to exemplify the desired format. The body of the manuscript starts immediately following the abstract and keywords. No introductory heading is used. Paragraphs in the body of the text should be indented. Manuscripts should use double spacing, and should be printed on one side only.
First Heading
Second Heading
The above heading styles illustrate first and 2nd level headings.
Units
SI units should be used throughout the text and on the figures. Authors may include other units in parentheses.
Equations
Equations are best entered using the Equation Editor. To create new equations, copy one of the equations given below, paste, then double-click on the new equation to edit. Note that equation numbers can be automatically generated by Word. To update the numbering, selected the equation number and press "F9".

Copyright Issues
Only papers not previously published will be accepted, and authors must agree not to publish elsewhere a paper submitted to and accepted by the Journal. A Transfer of Copyrights form must accompany manuscripts submitted to the Tire Society. The form can be obtained at the following internet address: click here
Conclusion
Manuscripts should be submitted by the corresponding author in MS Word format (not .PDF) directly via e-mail to the journal
Editor, with copies to the program chairmen. The largest file size that can be received in a single email is 5 MB. The current size of this file is 209k. This number can be copied and updated automatically as file size changes (highlight the number and press F9). Files larger than 5 MB must be zipped or broken into a series of smaller files that can be sent separately. Alternatively, the manuscript can be submitted by mail using a floppy diskette. If submitting hardcopies, submit an original copy of the manuscript, including the original set of figures and/or glossy black and white prints, along with three additional complete copies for review purposes. In order to be considered for the Superior Paper Award, manuscripts must be submitted by posted due date.
